Every so often, you get to see what the privileged in our country really think about the poor and marginalized.
On last evening's Marketplace program, on NPR, Barbara Bush revealed where her son got his amazing compassion from.
Said Ms. Bush, "And so many of the people in the arena here, you know, were underprivileged anyway, so this--this (she chuckles slightly) is working very well for them."
Yes indeed, you rich old bag, things are working out so well for these folks!
As the Bible says, "You shall know them by their fruits." (my paraphrase)

Jim,
I always say, "Apples don't fall far from the tree".

Sweet, grandmotherly Barbara Bush? Say it ain't so! You mean Al Franken was telling the truth?
"Apples don't fall far from the tree."
You certainly hit that one in the center of the bulls-eye! I have always thought that Barbara Bush was a callous and selfish woman and her comment did nothing to change my opinion of her.
We have a nation where the privileged no longer feel that they have an obligation to share some of their largesse.
As you know, my connections to organized religion are tenuous at best, but so much of my biblical background keeps popping into my head whenever one of these hypocrites open their mouths.
For instance, from Luke 12:48, we have the following from Jesus--"For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask the more."
It doesn't get too much plainer than that. Per usual, these "wolves in sheep's clothing" only use religion and spirituality as a method of manipulation.
